Ideye Joins Champions League-Bound Olympiacos

Nigeria international striker Brown Ideye has completed a permanent transfer from West Bromwich Albion to Greek club Olympiacos.

The 26-year-old arrived at the Hawthorns for a then-club record fee of £10m in July 2014 and made 31 appearances in all competitions for Albion, scoring seven times.

Both Olympiacos and West Brom have confirmed the transfer, which presents the Super Eagles striker with an opportunity to feature in the Uefa Champions League for the Greek champions.

Olympiacos are drawn in Group F of the 2015-16 Champions League along with Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb.

The former Ocean Boys striker joined Dynamo Kiev from French Ligue 1 side Socchaux in 2011 and went on to score 34 goals in 74 league appearances during his three-year spell in the Ukrainian League.

He has been capped 24 times by the Super Eagles and has scored five goals

A minor knock disrupted Ideye’s long-awaited return to international scene, following his recall to the Super Eagles for friendlies against Uganda and South Africa in March.
