Aguero Not Fit for Champions League Opener, Says Pellegrini

Sergio Aguero will not be fit to face Juventus on Tuesday, according to Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Argentine striker suffered a knee injury in a challenge from Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann during Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League win at Selhurst Park.

“Aguero is not fit for tomorrow,” the Chilean said in his pre-match press conference. “He has an injury to his knee.

“I hope he will be OK for the weekend but we must wait to see the result of the scans.”

He also confirmed that midfielder David Silva and winger Raheem Sterling will be available for selection after they both missed the weekend’s win, and that deadline day signing Kevin De Bruyne played well enough at the weekend after coming on in the first half.

Aguero was sidelined for over a month last year after suffering a knee ligament damage in December.

He has made five appearances this season, scoring one goal – the opener in the 3-0 home win against Chelsea on 16 August.
