He expressed the hope that 2016 would witness growth in the country’s economy.

“When the economy regains its momentum; we will see investors coming in, industries will spring up here and there that will absorb our teaming youths.

“We will also see the stability in the polity of the country, its development and growth”, Aba said.

On the performance of the agency in 2015, he noted that “the year has been an eventful one, not only for the agency but for the entire nation”.

“2015 was a year of major elections in the country – the elections to the various stages of governance; president, the governors, the Senate and Federal House of Representatives.

“The agency can proudly say that it was a critical stakeholder that worked with other stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians have an election that was adjudged free, fair and credible.

“The agency carried out its mandate to make sure that the citizens of the country particularly, the electorates were sufficiently sensitised, educated and informed on the electoral process.

“There were innovations in the electoral process. For example the use of the card readers, which hitherto was not used in previous elections.

“The positive roles we played contributed immensely to the success of the 2015 elections”, Aba said.

Aba said that the agency contributed to the stability of country’s polity through the successful elections.

“Before the elections, there were negative predictions from the enemies of this country; that Nigeria was going to fall apart and that the election was one of the ways that would make Nigeria disintegrate.

“The agency went into full mobilisation of Nigerians and restored confidence that the country would not disintegrate; and to the glory of God, Nigeria has remained one”, he said. (NAN)
