Buhari Appoints Ja’afaru, Babandede Prisons, Immigration Bosses

Mohammed-Babandede-Comptroller-General-Nigeria Immigration ServicePresident Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday approved the appointments of Ahmed Ja’afaru and Mohammed Babandede as the Controller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) and Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) respectively.
Messrs. Ja’afaru and Babandede’s appointments were contained in separate statements issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Bassey Akpanyung.
Until his appointment as Controller-General (Prisons), Ja’afaru was an Assistant Controller-General at the NPS Headquarters.
He replaces Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu, who retired from the NPS after the mandatory 35 years in service.
On the other hand, Babandede, who replaces Martin Abeshi, who retired last week from the Service at the end of his tenure, was a Deputy Comptroller-General at the NIS Headquarters.
Mr. Babandede’s appointment is to take effect from May 15 while that of Ja’afaru took effect from May 17.
