The police on Tuesday arraigned a 13-year-old boy before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling the six-year-old daughter of his neighbour.
The accused is a student who lives with his parents at Iju Ishaga Area of Lagos.
The prosecutor, Rafael Donny, a police sergeant, told the court that the offence was committed on June 6 at his parent’s residence.
Sgt. Donny said the accused called the victim to his room and defiled her.
The offence, the police prosecutor pointed out, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, whose identity was protected because he is a minor, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, subsequently granted him bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was also adjourned till July 20 for mention.
