The Sokoto State Government has declared tomorrow, Tuesday, 4th of October, public holiday to celebrate the start of the Islamic New Year (Muharram 3, 1438 AH).
This is contained in a statement released by Malam Imam Imam, the spokesperson to Gov Aminu Tambuwal.

The gov congratulated Muslims for witnessing the Hijra New Year as he enjoined the people of the state to use the occasion of the public holiday to intensify prayers for the nation.
Tambuwal appealed to all citizens to care, love and protect one another, adding that, Islamic virtues of unity, peace and honesty, should be promoted by all persons.
