PDP Thanks APC Govs For Accepting Responsibility For Economic Woes

Ahmed-MakarfiThe National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thanked the All Progressives Congress, APC, for accepting responsibility for the nation’s economic woes.

This is just as it advised the APC-led Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the ailing economy.

The spokesman of the PDP caretaker committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, made the call in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.

Mr. Adeyeye also advised the government to invite competent hands to manage and revive the country’s economy.

The caretaker committee spokesman said the PDP had been vindicated of its positions following the acceptance of responsibility regarding the economic misfortune caused by the APC.

He said Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who spoke with reporters after APC governors meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, accepted the responsibility.

Mr. Adeyeye quoted Okorocha, who is chairman of the APC Governors Forum as saying “We must take responsibility and we must never shift the responsibility to anybody. We are responsible for everything happening in Nigeria.

“The good, the bad, the ugly but we are promising Nigerians that we shall fix it”.

The caretaker committee spokesman said that the declaration came after several months of bulk-passing to previous PDP administration.

He, however, called on the APC to also accept other responsibilities as well as correct the impression that previous PDP administrations achieved nothing in the economy, infrastructure and policies in 16 years.

“For the umpteenth time, let us reiterate that the PDP’s achievements cannot be wished away.

“We therefore appreciate the APC’s acceptance.

“We urge them to accept all other responsibilities for all the wrongs they have plunged the country into and equally apologise for their serial lies”.
