Suspected Terrorists Warn Teachers To Keep Away From Schools Or Risk Attack

splinter boko haramOver the past few weeks, schools in Maidguri, Borno state capital have been targets of gunmen suspected to be members of Islamist sect Boko Haram; a development which forced many wards and teachers alike to stay away from the classrooms.

However, the situation has assumed a frightening dimension as the Boko Haram sect sent out warnings to primary and secondary school teachers in the town to stop going to school or risk bomb attacks.

It was learnt that some of the teachers received the warning Thursday morning while preparing for the day’s academic programmes in their various schools. According to sources, teachers in schools around Kasuwa Guza Road in Lamisila Ward, Maiduguri, were sternly warned by the group to stay away from school or risk attacks.

The teachers, who were said to have been accosted on their way to school, were said to have been shocked by the threat and quickly fled for their various homes.

Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force (JTF) ‘Operation Restore Order’, has intensified efforts on patrol and checking of vehicles at all entry points into the state capital, with a view to arresting any suspected member of the group before they enter the town.
