President Jonathan Charges Nigerian Universities on the Security Situation of the Country

jonathan-bokoPresident Goodluck Jonathan has challenged universities in the country to be innovative and embark on researches on how to tackle the security challenges affecting the country.

Represented by Minister of Education, Professor Ruqqayyat Ahmed Rufa’I, the president stated this during the 26th convocation of the University of Jos, imploring Nigerian universities to strive to be creative in their approach to contemporary issues, including the recurring insecurity problems in some parts of the country.

He also urged the University of Jos to make adequate use of its Centre for Conflict Management and come up with intelligent measures to curb the nation’s security challenges. His said: “the work of your Centre for Conflict Management and Peace Studies is essential in our search for peace. We will continue to count on your invaluable research outcomes on the causes, impact and solutions to the security challenges in this environment.”

The president then commended the institution for its landmark achievement in recent times, having been ranked among the 10 best universities in Nigeria.
