Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday denied reports that the state government’s private jet costs $57 (N9bn) saying it was bought for $45m (N7.1bn).
Amaechi, who said this through his Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, in Port Harcourt, described allegations that he inflated the cost of the jet by $10m as unfounded and a figment of the imagination of those spreading such false information.
According to him, the allegations were aimed at distracting the state government from its responsibility of developing the state.
“The state government has never announced that the aircraft was purchased for US$57m. That statement did not come from us. The aircraft was bought for US$45m. We see all these as a distraction,” Amaechi said.
Can you see? At first he deny having private jet now he said the money used in question ist not up that. Now tell me which state he wanted to develop? All this pple are thieve stealing our money, money that belong to masses God will surely judge you accordingly.
It is not new to us in nigeria that any governor who refuse to ponder to the whims of mr president is always faced with baseless allegations or criticisms like this.
It happened to the former governor sylva of Bayelsa.
They may later decide to send EFCC to hunt him again. Lets see what would happen after the governor‘s tenure.
In a poverty ridden country, shud a single individual use a private jet worth $45bn? This z a country where the paltry salaries paid 2 workers re not tegular, Families feed 1-0-1 @ best. Nobody z talking about balanced diet but eat wot you see……. God will judge us.
Gov Amechi, u better b strong n careful cos dos men r dangerous, once u refuse 2 follow their steps een, d nxt target is 2 remov u 4m ofix even if u escape d aircraft plot another issue wil rise on u.
Its not better u give that money to the less privilege than u spending money uselessly God will judge
