Eagles Will Not Lack World Cup Fund- Sports Minister

The Super Eagles will not lack cash required to shape up the squad before and during the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, says the Minister of Sport.

There has been growing concerns about the delay in the passage of the 2014 appropriation bill as it could affect the team’s preparation for the football showpiece which starts in June.

But sports minister Bolaji Abdullahi has given an assurance that the cash will be available for the team on time.

“The Nigeria Football Federation has submitted their financial plans to the National Sports Commission and we have finished work on it and sent it to the appropriate quarters and we believe that it would receive priority attention,” said Abdullahi.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the plans for the World Cup would go very well.

“We would give all the support that is necessary to the Nigeria Football Federation to succeed because if they succeed everyone is happy.”

Nigeria has been pitted against Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran in the group stage of the tournament.
