Contrary to media speculation that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has been directed to proceed on pre-retirement leave, the Nigeria Police says he has not received any official communication to that effect.
The Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Frank Mba made this known on Thurday in an SMS in which he said, the Mr. Abubakar was still at his desk and had continued to discharge his duty.
“The Police High Command is not in receipt of any official communication from the appropriate government quarters informing the IGP of his inevitable glorious retirement from the Force.
“Therefore, IGP MD Abubakar, who was fully on his desk today, has continued to perform his official duties as the 16th Indigenous IGP”, Mba, a Chief Superintendent of Police said.
