The Niger Delta Avengers has debunked claims of a split in its ranks following the emergence of a group, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA, on Friday.
The RNDA, in a statement issued by its spokesperson Cynthia White yesterday, said it decided to break away from the NDA, the militant group behind recent resurgence of violence in the Niger Delta, which brought oil production down to 1.2million barrels per day fromĀ almost 1.8million barrels, following what it said was āwise counselā it received from former President Goodluck Jonathan.
It also offered to join the MEND AaronĀ Team 2 peace initiative, which is in talks with the Nigerian Government āthrough the clearing houseĀ of Niger Delta Dialogue and Contact Group (NDDCG) headed byĀ HRH, King Alfred Diette-Spiffā.
The splinter group, which pledged cooperation with government by āexposingĀ the identities of our comradesĀ who remain stubborn in their insistence to continue attacksā, added that āit will shock the nation to know the Jekyll and Hyde personality behind the pseudonym āBrigadier GeneralĀ Murdoch Aginiboā (NDAās spokesman) and our sponsorsā.
It advised the IndigenousĀ People of Biafra (IPOB)Ā to also embrace peace by accepting the concession secured by MEND for the release of the detained Executive Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, saying those advising the IPOB founder to reject the renunciation ofĀ Biafra as a condition for his release, ādo not love him or appreciate the level of treason this simple act of common sense humility can extricate him fromā.
It warned the IPOB that the Niger Delta will āno longer be your proxy in a war to achieve your ambitionā, while pressing on the NDA to āstop being defiantĀ and embrace peace and the wise counsel we all received from former President Goodluck Jonathanā.
However, the NDA, in a statement issued Saturday morning said: āThe NDA is too busy at the moment to be distracted by people like Jude Kekyll, he is not part of us and cannot be part of us. All our operatives are united and we are all togetherā.
