Ogun State Government has announced the authorization of 6,000 food vendors to cater for the 1,554 beneficiary pupils of Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
The Programme Manager and Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, Tinuola Shopeju, revealed this while speaking to reporters on Monday in Abeokuta, the state capital.
She added that the exercise was to ensure effective implementation of the programme as she also disclosed that the vendors were selected across the 20 local government areas of the state after a rigorous screening exercise.
Mrs. Shopeju explained that those engaged had been carefully selected at ensuring that hygienic and nutritional balanced food were served in all the public primary schools for the 1,554 pupils.
According to her, the Home Grown School Feeding Programme would commence on September 19 when schools resume.
