Former minister of education Oby Ezekwesili has condemned churches for the death of ‘Ekwueme’ musician Osinachi Nwachukwu.
Osinachi died on Friday night following a battle with cancer, according to reports.
Minutes later, it was revealed that the singer had died in the hospital as a result of domestic abuse perpetrated by her husband.
Frank Edwards, a singer, also revealed that her life was cut short by a “irrational human.”
According to accounts, Osinachi refused to leave her husband despite domestic violence because of her church commitment.
In a thread on her Twitter page, Ezekwesili stated the allegation of spousal abuse that led to Osinachi’s death hurt her hard.

She requested that the truth about her death be exposed and that those who were involved be held accountable.
Her tweet read “The death of Osinachi Nwachukwu of the epic *Ekwueme* worship song really hit hard. To read allegations of spousal abuse worsens the pain. I hope the truth is unearthed and justice given.”
The activist urged everyone including churches to take seriously the issues of domestic violence against women.
“Everyone, including Churches must take issues of Violence Against Women seriously. Urgently
“I doubt that many in our society really pay enough attention to the troubling data that’s available on Gender-based Violence in Nigeria, África and the World at large. It is actually an Epidemic.
“Globally, a 2018 study shows nearly 1 in 3, or 30% of women are Victims,” Ezekwesili wrote.
